En Sound Music Award Nominee Jack Yates Kicks Off Solo Career At GMWA

LeRae Records and CLG Distribution have announced the recent release of En Sound Music Award nominee Jack Yates' debut solo CD, The Journal of Jack Yates. Yates kicked things off last week with a performance at the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A gifted singer/songwriter and worship leader, as well as the former lead singer of 3-time Stellar Award nominated Gospel group James Grear & Company, Yates is taking the Gospel industry by storm with his solo debut. At last week's GMWA Gospel Announcer's Guild Showcase, he shared songs from the project, which has already earned him an En Sound Music Award nomination for Best Urban Artist, Male.

During his stint as lead singer and staff songwriter with the renowned James Grear & Company, Yates toured and recorded extensively, garnering national acclaim for his clear, melodic voice on songs like "Don't Give Up," "Set Me Free" and "Peace Be Still." He received rave reviews in both the Gospel and mainstream markets for his lead vocals on the remake of The Youngbloods' classic "Get Together" from the 70s. But perhaps his work with the famous duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis while performing on "The Prince of Egypt" and "The Emperor's New Groove" soundtracks has brought him the most recognition.

All of his travels and accolades have led him back to Gospel music, and sharing the Gospel of Christ. "Following the voice of God is essential," says Yates.

Co-produced by Yates (James Grear & Company) and Pharis "June Bug" Evans, Jr. (Yolanda Adams, Stevie Wonder), the music of The Journal of Jack Yates runs the musical gamut from jazz to R&B to rock. Yates' own journal entries provide the lyrics for many of the songs on the new project, which features Yates' contemporary Gospel originals interspersed with his inspiring spoken word journal readings and Christian standards.

"Jack Yates is a phenomenal singer, songwriter and performer, and label owner Rev. Wilfred Moore has vast industry knowledge and a full complement of key relationships within the industry," comments CLG Distribution President David C. Coleman. "These two elements combine to create a potent partnership, indeed. We are very excited to be a part of this growth process which, we believe, will result in the development of another household name in the Gospel community."

"I'm excited to be part of the CLG family and am very confident that their distribution network will enhance our ability to expose Jack Yates and LeRae Records to the Christian and General Marketplace," says LeRae Records President, Rev. Wilfred Moore.

Jack Yates' The Journal of Jack Yates is available on LeRae Records, and distributed through CLG Distribution. For more information on Jack Yates' The Journal of Jack Yates, visit leraerecords.com or clgdistribution.com.

Brooke Fraser To Release "Flags" October 12 - U.S. Tour Announced

New Zealand-born singer and songwriter Brooke Fraser will release her third album, Flags, on October 12 on Wood and Bone Records. The new record was recorded in Los Angeles at EastWest Studios and was produced by the artist. A full U.S. tour has been finalized for November and December, where she’ll perform in legendary venues such as The Parish in Austin, Highline Ballroom in NYC and the El Rey in Los Angeles.

Flags is a dreamy, alternative-pop collection that showcases her agile soprano, lilting melodies, and knack for telling her stories through the lives of vibrant characters on songs like “Betty,” (co-written with Switchfoot’s Jon Foreman and Ben West of Detroit indie duo The Real Efforts of Real People), “Crows and Locusts,” “Jack Kerouac,” and “Ice on Her Lashes.” “I’ve never used as many characters or as much narrative in my songwriting as I have on this record,” Fraser says. “On my previous albums [2003’s What To Do With Daylight and 2008’s Albertine], I was singing completely as myself, which is why I think I got so burnt out from touring. Albertine was inspired by incredibly significant events and people and every time I’d sing I’d go back to that moment where my heart was ripped open. So singing such heavy songs nearly every night for three years took a toll. On Flags, it’s still me speaking, but it’s me speaking through the voices of different characters and their stories. It’s more survivable.” The album also features a co-written duet with Aqualung’s Matt Hales, titled “Who Are We Fooling?”

In 2002, when she was 18, Fraser signed with Sony Music and moved to Auckland where she played regularly at local venues while she wrote the songs that would appear on her debut album, What To Do With Daylight. That album, released in New Zealand in 2003, debuted at No. 1 and achieved gold status the same week. It eventually went eight times platinum, selling more than 120,000 copies in New Zealand alone, and remained in the Top 10 on the album charts for more than a year. The album spawned five Top 20 singles and made Fraser a star in her home country, leading to 2004 tours of Australia and New Zealand with John Mayer and David Bowie.

In 2005, Brooke took a trip to Rwanda, 11 years after a genocide that claimed the lives of nearly one million people. During the journey, she met and befriended a number of Rwandans who entrusted their stories to her, including an orphan named Albertine, the namesake of her second album, which was released in the U.S. in May 2008. After being featured on the iTunes homepage as an “Editor’s Choice” selection, Albertine entered the Billboard Top 100 chart and climbed to No. 5 on the digital retailer’s U.S. album chart. Fraser toured the States that fall, winning over audiences with her dry wit and warm stage presence.

CLG Distribution is pleased to welcome Platform Music Group (PMG) to the CLG Distribution family. Founded by Esther Womack, wife of the late Ricky Womack, Sr., Platform Music Group is a multi-media entertainment company which supplies positive audio and visual entertainment to a diverse international audience. Together with Vice President Jorie "Jay" Johnson, a multi-talented industry veteran, worship leader and former pastor, Platform Music Group is gearing up to release their flagship music title on August 31st, 2010 from legendary Black Gospel icon Keith Pringle.

Pringle, a two-time Grammy Award nominee, has penned many memorable Gospel hits including "Can't Stop Praising His Name," "When All God's Children Get Together" and "I Feel Like Going On." As the founding member of the Pentecostal Community Choir of Los Angeles, Keith spearheaded six projects with the choir, two of which went gold. He then continued on to release multiple albums and tour the world as a solo artist. Other nominations throughout the years include two Dove and one Stellar Award nominations.

Keith's comeback album is entitled "Nothing Too Hard For God." A revamped version of the classic "Call Him Up" (produced by Jimmie Wyatt with horn arrangements by Phil Lassiter) will be serviced to Gospel radio in late July by Vernice Watson (The Artist Company) to coincide with the GMWA Convention taking place in Cincinnati, OH. Future touring will find Keith headlining an AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange Services) tour alongside CLG distributed artists Jack Yates (from LeRae Records) and Minneapolis-based independent artist Sara Renner. U.S. Visa Policies Impact Former Hillsong Member

"Help Save Ray Campaign" offers free CD with donation

East Bridgewater, MA - July 1, 2010 -- On May 28th, Australian-born Ray Nainggolan (aka Ray & Co) was stopped upon arrival at San Francisco International Airport en route to Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts. He was questioned as he passed through customs with AU$3,000 in cash and two guitars. U.S. officials detained him for seven hours and asked hundreds of questions, finally concluding that Ray could not proceed any further into the U.S. due to the nature of his visa. He was traveling under the auspices of a B-1 Visitor's Visa as opposed to a P-1 Entertainment Visa, a non-immigrant visa which allows foreign nationals who are athletes, artists and musical groups to enter into the U.S. for a specific event, competition or performance. The leading official determined that Ray would be a burden on the U.S. economy and sent Ray back to Australia the following day.

On the cusp of his U.S. debut release entitled "White Noise Visions" releasing July 27th, Ray was traveling to the U.S. to spend the next three months promoting the album via concert/festival performances, interviews, a video shoot and several other promotional activities. Ironically, Ray spent four years in the U.S. attending college at Gordon College in Massachusetts beginning in 2000 and, thereafter, was afforded the opportunity to move to Australia where he became involved with the Hillsong movement. He was a featured guitarist on the Hillsong Kids albums "Follow You" and "Tell The World."

As a result of what can only be viewed as an injustice based upon the letter of the law and a government official's unwillingness to investigate the matter fully, Chrematizo Label Group joined independent Blue Duck Records and charities Love Can't Be Baht and The Stable Coffeehouse to form the "Help Save Ray Campaign". The purpose of the campaign is to help raise funds on behalf of the burgeoning artist to cover the estimated $3,000 dollars needed to secure a proper P-1 visa and the additional $1,000 to replace the original plane ticket.

Tax deductible donations can be made through the Love Can't Be Baht website (http://www.lovecantbebaht.com/Love_Home.html) or the Stable Coffeehouse website (http://www.matthewsmemorial.com/The_Stable.html). Blue Duck Records is offering a free copy of the 15-track "White Noise Visions" CD to anyone donating $20 or more to support the cause.

This week's new release:

Jon Bauer - Light of Another World (EP)
UPC: 6-22306-91642-9
SRP: $3.96
Genre: Contemporary / Modern Worship
Notes: Digital Only

Canada’s best & brightest artists have certainly made a major impact on the American Christian music scene. While it is no secret that Canada has produced a bumper crop of uniquely talented artists in many genres over the years, the country’s batting average in Christian music has been especially noteworthy. And now, in 2010, Canadian singer/songwriter Jon Bauer is stepping up to the plate. Jon’s third worship-focused recording, the Light of Another World EP, is also his US debut, and he’s excited to share his music—and his heart—with an ever-growing audience. Produced by 2010 Dove Awards “Producer of the Year” Rusty Varenkamp (Rush of Fools, Tenth Avenue North), Light of Another World features four selections written or co-penned by Jon. “My heart is to encourage people that worship is more than music. It’s a lifestyle, and it’s a choice. We need to look for ways to serve God and serve others, representing Him to this hurting world.”

New Releases - Week of June 8, 2010

This week's new release:

Jayreed - Holy (EP)
UPC: 6-95211-91221-0
SRP: $2.97
Genre: Gospel Rap / Holy Hip-Hop
Notes: Digital Only

Born James Wilbert Fleetwood Jr., JAYREED (which stands for Just A Young Radical Evangelist Executing Deliverance) started his Christian Rap ministry in 2003. At the time, he was enlisted in the U. S. Navy aboard the U. S. S. Ronald Reagan. Longing to share his faith with others, it was a common thing to catch the fiery MC ministering to others through music. One day while at sea he had an experience that would convince him to devote his entire life to his “Holy Hip Hop” ministry. During a performance of his song, “Everlasting Life,” a young man burst out of the crowd and fell to his knees, asking God to forgive his sins. Shortly after, a number of different people came seeking prayer for salvation and deliverance. It was a scene that he would never forget. This event made it clear that the Navy was only a temporary stop for the enthusiastic minister. The Holy EP (available in digital format only) is a precursor to his forthcomingfull-length album entitled "Further Upon The Rock" slated for October 2010.

This weeks' new releases:

Rezurrected Muzic Presents: Tha Circus
UPC: 7-03132-29612-8
SRP: $11.98
Genre: Gospel Rap / Holy Hip Hop

Rezurrected Muzic recording artists Minority and Illustrate have joined forces on their latest effort entitled Tha Circus. The album addresses the regional divide in musical styles within the hip hop community while maintaining a unified focus on Christ. Thematically, the album reveals how hip hop music sometimes becomes entrenched in a battle over which style reigns supreme. Musically, the album is ground-breaking and successfully combines elements of virtually every style within the genre. The end result is a unique and diverse genre all its own. Ultimately, Minority and Illustrate embrace the contradictions of hip hop politics while setting aside the differences to focus on the true message behind the music - that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Producers on the project include: Jason Salter (Dove-nominated K2's, The Carlos Mencias Show, The Baka Boyz), Base Jase (Rhythm of Gospel nominated M.V.P., M.T.V.), DK Kair One, Beats Bionic and Illustrate.

Jack Yates - The Journal of Jack Yates
UPC: 7-93573-78082-9
SRP: $13.98
Genre: Contemporary / Pop / Gospel

“Smooth as silk” and “melodic as the sound of a hummingbird over a gentle spring breeze” are some of the cliches that are mentioned when referring to the vocal stylings of Jack Yates. Former lead singer/producer of 3-time Stellar Award Nominee James Grear and Company, Jack enters the gospel music arena with his first solo project that speaks volumes to humanity in the 21st Century. The Journal of Jack Yates is filled with messages of love and inspiration presented through the medium of music and spoken word with Jazz, R&B, and Rock influences. This project has something for everyone as it includes an earth shaking traditional hymn coupled with words of wisdom from Jack’s personal journal. Produced by Jack and the esteemed Pharis Evans, you will find your heart filled with inspiration as this project encourages you to continue on your life's journey...no matter who or where you are.

Sara Renner Joins the AAFES Holiday Tour

CLG independent distributed artist Sara Renner has been asked to join the AAFES Holiday Tour alongside LeRae Records' flagship artist Jack Yates and legendary singer Keith Pringle. The tour is being put together by Ben Fleming of Mega-Ben Productions who has worked with legendary performers like Kirk Franklin & Family, The Winans, Trin-i-tee 5:7, Mary Mary (and many other Gospel greats) as well as mainstream artists like Anita Baker, Keith Sweat, R-Kelly, Trisha Yearwood and Vince Gill. The tour will begin in early November and extend through the end of February in honor of Black History Month.

AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange Services) provides quality goods and services to the troops through the on-base PX's and BX's. The tour will visit military installations across the country with the goal of providing encouragement and sharing the hope that can only be found in Christ with America's best and brightest.
